Go 4 It is a yearlong campaign showcasing impactful stories mainly through in-person activations. Each month, WDIV investigated different challenges facing metropolitan Detroit and partnered with local organizations to host daylong events where the public could help. The Go 4 It campaign raised awareness and donations and it also fostered friendships and understanding. Additional aspects of the effort included Go 4 It awards for local difference-makers, and a music video for the Go 4 It song.
Among the many community fundraising events, $33,000 worth of hands-free CPR training was provided to 1,580 members of the public during CPR Lifesavers Day; $8,047 worth of comfort blankets were created and donated to Gift of Life Michigan; 1,995 worn out American flags were turned in for proper retirement ceremonies; $12,850 worth of Narcan opioid overdose kits were distributed through training sessions with the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.
